When Cavell Nurses’ Trust asked us to get involved in their Virtual Tea Party we wanted to do something special.

The thought of getting together for a cuppa and a cake was such a nice thought, and it’s been so long since we’ve been able to do it.

But the team at Single Use Surgical decided they wouldn’t let lockdown stop us enjoying a piece of cake together, and as you’ll see from this video, we all enjoyed our cake!

Single Use Surgical are proud supporters of Cavell Nurses’ Trust, and 5p from the sale of every box of product sold in the UK is donated to the charity.

Cavell Nurses’ Trust supports UK nurses, midwives and healthcare assistants, both working and retired, when they’re suffering personal or financial hardship often due to illness, disability, domestic abuse and the impact of the coronavirus.

From simple, essential support like money to repair a broken cooker or boiler, to vital life-changing aid helping a family flee their home due to domestic abuse, Cavell Nurses’ Trust is here to help. The numbers seeking help is increasing year on year so it’s clear there’s a need for members of the nursing and midwifery family to access this support.

John Orchard, Chief Executive at Cavell Nurses’ Trust said: “Over the last 3 months we’ve provided record levels of support.

“In May, the amount of funding we gave out needed to be three times higher than that given in February, just before the pandemic hit the UK.

“Right now we are emotionally and financially supporting nursing and midwifery staff every day affected by Coronavirus.

“This support is over and above what we’re providing to other nursing and midwifery professionals who are living with cancer, fleeing domestic abuse or suffering with poor mental health.

“It’s been an unprecedented few months for a small charity like ours and we don’t see that changing soon. We want to help as much as our funding allows, but we know the effects of the pandemic will be felt by our nurses, midwives and healthcare assistants for many months to come if not years.”
