Our International Sales team promote our products across 30 territories globally, and have recently recruited a new addition, Lauren Hayes, to build on our export growth. The department is responsible for ensuring that our global network of distributors have the information they need to promote the case for single-use.

We wanted to introduce you to Lauren, who has been with us just over three months, and provide some insight into her role as International Sales Executive.

What does your job entail?

My role involves supporting our international distributors with any queries they may have to grow our business. This involves international travel to meet them face to face so we can build on strong and meaningful relationships, which I feel is very important and sets us apart from other companies. I also work closely with our fabulous marketing team, offering input on a variety of tasks and campaigns for our social media platforms.

What territories do you look after?

Currently, I split European territories with my colleague Rob. Within Europe I look after countries such as Italy, Spain, Portugal and Germany. Further afield, I cover Latin America and hope to branch out to Asia in the coming months in the search for new partners in South Korea, Japan and Hong Kong, to name a few!

Tell us about an average day.

My average day involves working with various teams across the business such as marketing and customer services. I hold meetings with distributors to answer any queries they may have and for feedback on sales in that territory. I feel that transparency is key to success in this role. Although I have only been on one international trip so far, I plan on travelling to at least one country per month to meet with my clients to build on our relationships in a face-to-face setting.

What do you like most about your job?

That’s a tough one as I can’t narrow this down to one thing! I absolutely love my job for many different reasons, the first being my amazing team. It is rare to come across a working environment where every member of the team works in solidarity and genuinely want to see one another do well. I could not have felt more welcome by colleagues. I am also very fortunate to be able to travel as part of my job, and for the opportunity to visit countries I may not have if it weren’t for my role.

What are you most looking forward to this year?

I am looking forward to developing my career and role at Eakin Healthcare. I have loved it so far and I know this will only grow. I am also looking forward to visiting new countries to meet with our international distributors.

What languages do you speak and does that help you in your role?

I speak Spanish, French and a bit of Korean. I spent a year living in Madrid where my job there turned out to be in fluent French! This helped me to develop both languages at once, which was a great opportunity. My auntie is Korean, and I have picked up small phrases from her and my cousin over the years – it’s a fascinating language.

Tell us something that people won’t know about you.

Outside of work, I love being on the farm! Every day is different and it is a really interesting and enjoyable vocation. It comes with its ups and downs, but I thoroughly enjoy the countryside lifestyle.

Eakin Surgical is a manufacturer of high-quality single use surgical instruments that are sold worldwide. Our solutions have been designed in response to the growing concerns over the cleaning of reusable fine lumen instruments – which are associated with high risks of patient-to-patient cross-infection.

We work closely with healthcare professionals to identify where products can be improved and bring to market innovative solutions that offer surgical teams the reliable, practical and flexible tools that they rely on – without compromising on the high quality, ease of use and functionality of the reusable equivalent, and while still delivering optimal value and safety for patients.
