Sanoculis The UKs 1st Stentless Glaucoma Treatment Webinar

MIMS® – a new surgical procedure for glaucoma – simplifies treatment and keeps patients’ options open

According to Vision Direct around a million people in the UK have glaucoma and we probably all know someone who has been diagnosed or who has got a family history of glaucoma. I remember from an early age when my Uncle was told that he had to give up driving – this vibrant man was hugely effected by having his freedom to go anywhere at anytime taken away and came to rely on friends and family to take him to places. Depression hit him hard, he didn’t go anywhere and when people offered to take him out he declined but over time he came to accept his new life.

Eakin Healthcare Group acquires Armstrong Medical continuing an ambitious growth strategy

Northern Ireland headquartered Eakin Healthcare Group has announced it is expanding into a new therapeutic area with the acquisition of Coleraine based Armstrong Medical, which specialises in respiratory care products. The deal represents a diversification for the Group which to date has specialised in ostomy and wound care products.  The combined resources of the two indigenous NI healthcare manufacturing businesses will now help the Group to grow its domestic and international presence. The acquisition will be supported by an ambitious investment plan to enable further development of innovative medical products in Northern Ireland to meet the needs of patients worldwide.

Ailsa walks 5k a day just three months after fracturing her pelvis in a serious car accident.

There is no getting around it, 2020 has not been a great year so far, but for some it has been worse than others. That said, this strange year has prompted people facing really tough times to achieve incredible things.

Take the amazing Captain Tom Moore for example. At 99 years old, he set out to raise a little bit of money for “for the sake of the nurses and the NHS”, by walking 100 laps of his garden by his 100th birthday on 30th April. He completed his task ahead of schedule, capturing the hearts of the nation and raising a jaw-dropping £32,794,701.

Heroes during this global pandemic have come in all shapes, sizes, careers, and ages, and we would like to honour an incredible young person close to the hearts of the Single Use Surgical team.

Cake and a cuppa for Cavell Nurses’ Trust

When Cavell Nurses’ Trust asked us to get involved in their Virtual Tea Party we wanted to do something special. The thought of getting together for a cuppa and a cake was such a nice thought, and it’s been so long since we’ve been able to do it.

But the team at Single Use Surgical decided they wouldn’t let lockdown stop us enjoying a piece of cake together, and as you’ll see from this video, we all enjoyed our cake!

Protecting patients and the environment

Single Use Surgical is highly committed to ethical practises and satisfying customer needs is at the heart of the business. Difficult to clean instruments are commonly associated with the risks of cross-contamination. For this reason, protecting patients with our single-use instruments that are guaranteed sterile continues to be our primary objective.

Despite our aims to ensure patient care, we also take our responsibility toward the environment very seriously by working with our partners and doing what we can to protect the planet and reduce our carbon footprint. Click below to download our infographic and find out more.

Meet the Team – Dai Gale

When I asked Dai to be part of Meet The Team Monday I knew it was going to be epic. So many mysteries to unravel. Why do we call you Dai when your name is Peter, what does being Deputy Warehouse Manager involve, and why did I see a picture on Facebook of you wearing your wife’s best dress?

Dai is a bit special here at Single Use Surgical, because while most of the team have been staying safe at the comfort of our dining tables, Dai has been working full time in the warehouse to ensure our customers still get their orders. So, we decided Dai needed a special place on our blog, as just a small thank you for his hard work.
